DESKTOP 151 - EAGLE

This sculpture is displayed in a Melbourne suburban nursery. It makes a good foil for the sky and looks good on my Desktop.

DESKTOP 137 - FIBRES

Photomicrograph I took of some cellulose fibres in a piece of thin lens cleaning tissue. The colour is due to false colourisation using a simple LUT (Look-Up Table).

DESKTOP 133 - PETUNIAS

Petunia "Raspberry Blast" is a new hybrid, with pink blooms edged in deep cerise. Its trailing habit and low maintenance makes it a winner for both baskets and beds.

DESKTOP 131 - POINSETTIA

The poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) is a culturally and commercially important plant species of the diverse spurge family that is indigenous to Mexico and Central America. It is particularly well known for its red and green foliage and is widely used in Christmas floral displays. It derives its common English name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant into the United States in 1825.

DESKTOP 130 - MORNING GLORY

Blue morning glory (Ipomoea indica) is a vigorous, perennial climber. The thick, smothering growth of this plant is a common sight on many rural roadsides and forest edges in Australia and in some parts it has been declared a noxious weed. The blue colour of the flowers, however, is quite sumptuous!

DESKTOP 123 - STORKS

The Black-necked Stork (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus) is a tall long-necked wading bird in the stork family. It is a resident species across South and Southeast Asia with a disjunct population in Australia. It lives in wetland habitats to forage for a wide range of animal prey.

Adult birds of both sexes have a heavy bill and are patterned in white and glossy blacks, but the sexes differ in the colour of the iris. In Australia, it is sometimes called a Jabiru although that name refers to a stork species found in the Americas. It is one of the few storks that is strongly territorial when feeding.

This is a watercolour painting I did several years ago.
